If you are not sure what you’re going to do on the moving day, here are few tips you can follow and be prepared before the movers arrive to avoid the shifting day chaos and make sure you have a smooth relocation experience.

Plan Your Move

For local relocation, you should start to look for moving companies 7-10 days before the shifting day. For domestic moving, it’s ideal to plan 15-20 days before the relocation day. Prepare a ‘to-do-list’ to have track of all your moving tasks.

No-Pack Zone

Sort out all the unwanted things, donate/sell the usable goods, to avoid a last-minute rush, and reduce the number of moving goods. Establish a ‘No-Pack Zone’, keep all the unwanted things there, and instruct the movers not to pack those items.

Take Pictures of Your Goods

Take photos of all your goods before it's packed/disassembled. This will help you to identify any damages while unpacking/reassembly. Click pictures of your electronic appliance before you unplug it, to easily identify while reconnecting at your new location. Also neatly pack all the wires, cables, screws, etc. each in separate ziplock bags and label it.

Prepare a Checklist

Prepare an inventory to have a track of your moving day task, and goods your moving. While loading and unloading, cross-check with the checklist, it will be easy for you to identify if anything goes missing.

Provide Contact Details

Especially at domestic/international relocation, you should provide complete contact details like emergency contact number or address to the packers & movers. If at all the mover is not able to contact you when they have arrived at the destination location, they can contact the emergency contact number you have provided.

What Not to Transport with Packers

It’s not ideal to shift your valuables like jewelry, laptop, important documents, etc. with packers & movers. It always better to carry your essentials like medicines, toiletries, personal care, emergency pair of clothes, etc. along with you. Also, remember not to shift hazardous liquids such as kerosene, paint, engine oil, etc. with the movers.

Clear the pathway

The obstacles in the passageway might disturb the relocation laborers, and it will be difficult while loading and unloading. Clean and clear all the hurdles in the pathway from the door to the truck to ensure smooth loading and unloading.
